Blogger Recognition Award
I’m not sure how much time elapsed before I checked our messages. Jimmy and I had been bogged down with revamping our site, moving servers, and swapping our old theme for a new a new one. But I do remember the day early in March. I was thinking oh gosh, we have tons of notifications. As I was going through the messages I came across our blog recognition nomination. we didn’t see that one coming and were so surprised and excited. It is with happiness and gratitude that we accept the Blog recognition award nomination given to us by Amalia and Paolo from Hang Around the World. Jimmy and I thank you so very much for thinking of us.
I had planned on getting to writing our acceptance and thank you within a couple of weeks. Me of course being me, set it aside and got caught up in other blogging task. With that said here we are, several weeks later with a second nomination. We’re overwhelmed with joy. We also want to thank Stephenie from Blended Life Happy Wife for nominating us for the blogger recognition award.

How We Started
Jimmy and I knew that we wanted to start blogging, we both had shared a passion for travel and initially started out as a travel blog. For me Durham’s Love, Life and Travel has been a blessing as I needed something to do with myself living as an expat in the UK from the US. We both had many years of traveling in our past and we knew we would be continuing to travel so we saw travel blogging as a fitting past time. Beside travel we just in general love life. We only have one life so we want to enjoy it! Which is where our name comes from, Love, Life, and Travel! It amazes us how far we have come in such a short time and how much our site has evolved and now includes topics such as diet, food, and our artwork along with travel. We also intend to continue to add more and more categories in the future. We are so proud to be part of such wonderful blogging communities and the support that is shared between bloggers is amazing and we thank everyone for contributing to our success! This journey has been so eye opening and we absolutely love all the new acquaintances and friends we have made along the way!
Advice For New Bloggers
Get personal and engage with your social media audience. It’s incredible to us how rapidly our social media networks are continually growing. A huge part of that is just plain being ourselves and getting to know our readers, viewers, and other bloggers. It’s easy to get caught up in wanting to promote our blogs and staying focussed is definitely a must. But being self-serving does not always give you the end result you may be looking for. I have actually learned from Jimmy, Keep it real, Keep it personable. Let your readers get to know who you are and get to know them. After all, without them you have no readers!
Be patient and keep your eye on the prize! Whether you started your blog as a hobby or have intentions to monetize, always remember good things come to those who wait. When we first started it really felt like we were running a race against time and wanted so badly to see results, like right now! We took a step back and reorganized and set our ultimate long term goal and from there we worked backward and set short term stepping stones to get to that long-term goal. Everything happens in its own time and being patient will help relieve some the anxiety or strain you may be feeling on wanting to see results right away. As Jimmy say’s you have to learn to walk before you can run. Just think of this time as your time to make mistakes and tweak things into perfection so you can shine later on!
Stay positive and take on a can-do attitude. I must of grew up in a fantasy world or something, because my entire life, I have always believed I can do anything I want. I to this day, get people saying you can’t do that, or that is impossible or it won’t work blah, blah blah! Thank God for my defiant temperament, because I always come back with I’ll show you! You can accomplish anything as long as you put your mind to it. Believe in yourself and keep things positive. Don’t let anyone bring you down and follow your passion!
Above all, Have Fun! When you imagined starting a blog, I assume that having fun writing about your passions and things you love were on your mind. But now that you have come this far and have dove into the work it takes to get your blog off and running it can be easy to forget about the fun part.
