How to start a blog in 3 easy steps!
I’m guessing since you landed on this page you have been putting a lot of thought into starting up a new blog. I like you, spent hours searching google on how to set up a new blog. What helped me most was being able to follow along step by step with pictures so I could check to see if I was doing things right. If this is your style of learning than this page is for you. I will take you step by step through the process of setting up your new blog. All it takes is 20 minutes and you are on your way to making your dreams come true! Don’t worry it’s a lot easier than it looks! In this tutorial we will be using iPage for domain name and hosting set up! Head on over to iPage and let get started!

Get your blog started in three easy steps
1. Domain name and hosting
2. Set up WordPress
3. Choose your theme and make it pretty
Step 1. Domain name and hosting
Have you thought of a domain name yet? What do you want to be called?
Note: Your domain name should compliment your niche or what you're planning to write about. Once you have chosen and register a domain name is stays with you and is very difficult to change. So make sure the name you choose for your site suites you and something you can live with for the long haul!
a. Select register a new domain.
b. Enter your domain name and check the availability
Note: If your name has been taken, you may have to come up with a new one. Once your domain availability check is approved move onto the next step.
c. Enter your contact and billing information
d. Choose your plan hosting plan
You have different pricing options for 1, 2 or 3 years. Choose a plan that best suites you. iPage has some really great prices for blogging beginners! Once you have chosen your plan, you will be asked account use. If you are intending your site to be for blogging you can put individual. If you intend your site to be for a registered business than you can check business. You will then be asked about additional website services available under website essentials. Most of the essentials are not necessary at this point and you can choose any, all or none of the options. You will need security on your site, however down the road if you ever intend to at a CDN (content delivery network) to your site than choosing sitelock will not be compatible. With that said, Sitelock is an excellent measure in protecting your site from malware and hackers. Click on the check out button and you are ready for step 2.
Step 2. Set up WordPress
a. Go to your control panel by clicking on the home icon in far left side and click on the WordPress Icon.
c. Click on install
d. Select domain you want to install WordPress on (WP) choose your domain name which is your root domain and click on enter.
e. Check I have read terms and conditions and then click Install now.
Your installation is complete!
Step 3. Choose your Theme and make it pretty
Congratulations! This is it, you officially have started your blog! All you need to do now is pick out a WordPress theme that gives your site it’s individuality and your own personal touch!
WordPress has tons of free theme options to choose from. I will walk you through your WordPress dashboard and show you where to find the themes and you can take some time scanning through until you find one that suites you! For starting up the free versions will suffice.
Premium Themes are also available and for long haul if you intend on monetizing your blog, I highly recommend them at some point. Take a look at some of the options that we have worked with and think are excellent choices for designing your site.

They are so user friendly and easy set up templates with so many options leaving you the time you need to focus on what’s important! There support staff is not only very friendly and helpful but they also have a quick response time. No content builder is needed with their themes Just pick out your layout template and you are good to go!
Great, So lets get started in choosing your theme
a. Log into wordpress
b. Your wordpress dashboard will look like this. Click on connecting your Jetpack
c. Click on the appearance tab on the left column and then click themes
d. Choose your theme and click on install and then activate
There you have it! You site is now ready for you to jump in and write your first post!
